Zel Punta Cana, the third property from Rafael Nadal and Meliá Hotels International’s Zel, is gearing up to open its doors in December 2024.

Building on the success of Zel Mallorca and Zel Costa Brava, the Caribbean opening marks the brand’s expansion into the Americas, blending its signature Mediterranean feel with island charm.

The new opening draws inspiration from the Mediterranean’s warm hospitality, vibrant outdoor culture and effortless lifestyle across its 190 nature-inspired guestrooms, swim-up suites with private gardens that offer direct pool access. Inspired by a love for the outdoors and the philosophy of slow living, the rooms showcase Mediterranean-style design with natural colours, textures and shapes.

On-site amenities include two swimming pools, five tennis courts and a full-service spa – which features a whirlpool, sauna, steam room and private treatment rooms. Other public spaces include versatile meeting spaces, six unique dining experiences and a vibrant beach club. A signature feature of the brand, Zel Punta Cana’s concept store offers a curated selection of local and international brands to shop from, including Romualda, Casa MariCruz, Chakana, OAS, Octaevo and Printworks.

Active wellbeing remains at the heart of the property through its Zel Club, which facilitates the creation of a community centred around balancing a healthy lifestyle and fostering social connections.

“We consider Zel to be a true Mediterranean embassy and look forward to introducing our lifestyle experience to Punta Cana,” says Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International. “Together with Rafa, we decided to embark on this adventure to share our worry-free values and warm culture with our guests around the world. The Caribbean is a destination with an abundance of its own special charm that perfectly complements the Zel brand, creating a holiday retreat unlike any other.”
