Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to open over 50 new luxury and lifestyle hotels worldwide by 2026. This ambitious growth strategy was revealed at ILTM Cannes, a prominent luxury travel trade show.
The demand for luxury travel has significantly increased, with a predicted rise of 52.8% in Europe’s luxury hotel stock by 2028. Hyatt, which has 70% of its rooms categorized as luxury and upper upscale, is strategically placed to capitalize on this opportunity. The company has expanded its portfolio by 28 luxury hotels and resorts in the last three years and doubled its luxury room count since 2017.
The lifestyle hotel segment, characterized by experience-focused offerings, is also growing rapidly. Hyatt has established a strong presence in this segment, having increased its lifestyle rooms fivefold since 2017. The company’s leadership in this segment has been bolstered by the recent acquisition of the brands of lifestyle hospitality company Standard International. Hyatt has also created a dedicated Lifestyle group to be led by Amar Lalvani, former Executive Chairman of Standard International.
The future openings include highly anticipated hotels like Miraval the Red Sea, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Park Hyatt Johannesburg, Andaz Miami Beach, and Andaz Gold Coast.
Hyatt’s growth strategy includes establishing specific portfolios to maximize the potential of each of its brands. The Luxury portfolio will feature hotels with unparalleled service, amenities, and design, including brands like Park Hyatt, Alila, and Miraval. The Lifestyle portfolio will offer original design, dining, and cultural programming, featuring brands such as Andaz, Thompson Hotels, and the newly acquired Standard International brands.
Hyatt’s expansion will allow the company to maintain its industry leadership by providing elevated high-end experiences for its guests. It manages 256 luxury and lifestyle hotels and resorts across 45 countries.
