Nine teams representing local organizations will take the stage Saturday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. for the CV Lip Sync Battle at the Palm Springs Cultural Center.

The competition, produced by comedian Shann Carr and co-presented by The LGBTQ+ Community Center of the Desert, will award $1,000 to the winning team along with bragging rights.

Participating organizations include the American Cancer Society, Animal Samaritans, Cancer Support Community, Cathedral City LGBT+ Days, Desert Business Association, Friends of the Desert Mountains, L-FUND, Palm Springs Parks and Recreation and Safe House PS.

Carr has served as the event’s producer since 2015, when Mike Thompson, executive director of The Center, won first place. The Center’s team has consistently placed in the top three since the competition began and has now graduated to co-presenting the event.

“The Lip Sync Battle proves that even desk nerds can whip up some ‘it factor,’” Carr said. “I get to help business leaders, overworked Executive Directors, and therapy dog handlers shine like pop stars!”

Previous contestants will return as judges and coaches, providing guidance to this year’s participants. The event is designed as a community gathering for local residents.

The competition will take place at the Palm Springs Cultural Center’s big theatre, located at 2300 E. Baristo Road in Palm Springs. Regular tickets cost $50, while VIP tickets are priced at $80.
