Runway offers various paid plans, but given how hit and miss most generations can be, the only one that truly makes sense is the unlimited plan if you’re really going to be producing a lot of content…this allows both quicker generations using credits or “free” generations that can take a long time in queue, depending on demand. You can now also try out Gen-3 Alpha Turbo in the free plan, which offers 125 one-time credits to play with.
- Luma AI Dream Machine: Luma AI specializes in 3D rendering and animation. Dream Machine is an AI model that makes high quality, realistic videos fast from text and images. While there are various paid plans, Luma Dream Machine also offers 30 free (low priority) generations per month, as long as they’re not used commercially.
- Kling AI: Kling AI offers user-friendly features to create AI images and videos, the latter with both text and image prompts. The free plan currently provides about 66 credits per day and animating one image to video should cost roughly 10 credits. In my testing though, the interface was straightforward, but the generations extremely slow (and often stuck at 99% completion).

Most tools at the moment only produce short, low to medium quality output – for example, Runway video outputs are only 5 or 10 seconds long at HD (not full HD) resolution.
- Review and Refine: Watch the generated video and see if it meets your expectations. You may need to adjust parameters or try different settings for optimal results. If you need higher quality, consider running the output through an AI enhancing tool like Krea.ai, Magnific or Topaz (note that some of these tools may change the way the face looks, so not always ideal if you want to preserve your resemblance).

If you have existing videos that you’d like to transform or stylize, tools like Runway Gen 2 and Gen 3 Alpha offer AI video-to-video capabilities. Based on my early experiments, the video to video AI does morph faces so it isn’t ideal if you want to preserve your own look…you may need to use a combination of techniques for this.
