
Agri-Tourism in Sarnia-Lambton
The summer students at Tourism Sarnia-Lambton had a busy week! They visited a few agri-tourism stops and got to learn about each attraction. Lambton County is made up of over 50% farmland, meaning we are surrounded by fresh produce and crops. We have so many lovely farms and agri-tourism attractions that are worth a trip!
Forest Glen Herb Farm & Bed and Breakfast
Forest Glen Herb Farm & Bed and Breakfast is located in the scenic municipality of Lambton Shores. This farm is open daily and loves visitors. Whether you’re looking for herbs, floral arrangements, classes, or an event venue, you’re in the right place. Forest Glen offers multiple classes and workshops which allow each visitor to learn and gain experience with plants of a wide variety. Additionally, the Bed and Breakfast allows visitors to stay in a beautiful Edwardian home while enjoying the property. Guests are able to hike, bird-watch, visit the private beach, and take classes! This retreat is a unique hidden gem within the county and is worth a visit!
Miracle Max’s Minions
These beautiful sunflower fields were planted in memory of a young boy from Thedford, Max Rombouts, who passed away after battling leukemia. Max’s memory lives on as the community continues to come together and plant numerous fields, now known as Miracle Max’s Minions. These fields have quickly become a popular tourist destination. Donations are accepted at each field and are directed to charities such as Childcan, the TLC Foundation, and the Ronald McDonald House.
Zekveld’s Garden Market
Zekveld’s has been a staple in the community since 2000. This is a lovely stop for high quality, in-season produce. Not only does this market feature fresh produce, they offer their barn as a beautiful venue option. To make this stop even more exciting, Zekveld’s Garden Market provides a “U-Pick” option that includes strawberries, raspberries, apple, pears, and pumpkins! Munro Honey & Meadery
Munro Honey & Meadery has been operating for over 100 years in Alvinston. WWith their extensive knowledge being passed down through five generations, Munro has continued to provide not only the community, but all of Ontario with wonderful honey and additional hive products. In 1999, Munro Honey became Munro Honey & Meadery, taking on the title of Ontario’s first meadery. They have since won many medals and prestigious international awards for their mead. This is a can’t-miss stop in Lambton County!
Children’s Animal Farm
The Children’s Animal Farm has been one of the most-visited attractions in Sarnia since 1964. This well-loved stop is home to many animals, such as llamas, cows, donkeys, goats, pigs, and many others! The Children’s Animal Farm is thoroughly enjoyed by people of all ages due to the scenic environment, picnic area, and playground equipment. The animals are happy, healthy, and love visitors, so add this to your list of things-to-do in Sarnia.
Sarnia Farmers’ Market
The Sarnia Farmers’ Market has remained local and fresh since 1953. It is open all year on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m.-1 p.m.. The market is home to a large number of local vendors offering delicious produce, honey, baked goods, and more! This is a wonderful way to explore what Sarnia has to offer, including both essentials and truly unique products.
Rock Glen Conservation Area
Located in Arkona, Rock Glen Conservation area draws in a large number of visitors each year. This attraction features hiking trails though the Carolinian Forest, the beautiful Rock Glen Falls, and the Arkona Lions Museum and Information Centre. The museum is home is a large collection of fossils and artifacts found in Arkona, such as multiple fossils named after the town of Arkona (Arkonips topororum and Arkonaster topororum)! In fact, each visitor is permitted to collect one fossil to bring home with them. Additionally, Rock Glen Conservation Area acts as a beautiful venue for an outdoor wedding!
Twin Pines Orchards & Cider House
Twin Pines Orchards & Cider House is found in Lambton Shores, sitting on 50 acres of beautiful grounds. Over half of the acres are used for growing fruit, such as strawberries, raspberries, and apples! Twin Pines is recognized as an Integrated Pest Management Orchard, resulting in reduction of over-use of pesticides. Twin Pines is proud to be a family-run business and you will often find members of the family around the property working hard. The Cider House has won international awards for their cider and we know it’ll impress all cider fans! While at the orchard, visit their storefront, taste some cider, and enjoy their homemade doughnuts!
