SH Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to launch 1 Hotel Tokyo in collaboration with Mori Trust, a prominent property development company in Japan. The venture, set to open in 2025, embodies the unique 1 Hotels experience, deeply ingrained in nature and sustainability.
The hotel will be in Tokyo’s Akasaka district, anchoring Mori Trust’s Tokyo World Gate Akasaka project. This modern complex combines retail, office space, and the luxurious 1 Hotel experience in a well-designed, pedestrian-friendly development.
Barry Sternlicht, founder of 1 Hotels and Chairman of SH Hotels & Resorts, expressed excitement about the partnership with Mori Trust. He emphasized the commitment to nature, luxury, and cultural preservation in Tokyo, a city renowned for its innovation and sophistication.
1 Hotel Tokyo has received Rank S certification from CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency), indicating top-tier environmental performance. The property’s key initiatives include reduced energy and water usage, advanced rainwater and greywater recycling systems, and sustainable sourcing of furniture and fixtures from reclaimed and recycled materials.
The hotel’s design pays homage to Japan’s natural landscapes, traditional craftsmanship, and authentic materials. The design concept is rooted in the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection and uses raw materials to create a calm atmosphere.
The food and beverage offerings at 1 Hotel Tokyo are carefully selected to showcase Japan’s culinary expertise and innovative mixology. The 211 spacious guest rooms blend traditional Japanese design with modern luxury, creating a soothing, spa-like ambiance.
1 Hotel Tokyo will also provide a comprehensive wellness experience, featuring a Zen-inspired spa, multiple hammams, a fitness center with a stunning view, an indoor pool, and a serene outdoor terrace with city views.
The hotel will also cater to business travelers and special events with approximately 473 square meters of meeting and event space. Situated in the lively Akasaka neighborhood, 1 Hotel Tokyo is positioned to become an iconic destination embodying 1 Hotels’ commitment to sustainability, mindful luxury, and a deep connection to nature.
